Isuzu North America Corporation has announced its decision to establish a new production base in Greenville County, South Carolina. The $280 million investment by the commercial vehicle supplier is expected to create over 700 jobs. Isuzu, a subsidiary of Isuzu Motors Limited, aims to enhance its vehicle supply capabilities in North America through this expansion.

The company has acquired a 1 million-square-foot facility on more than 200 acres of land on Augusta Road in Greenville County. This site will be transformed into an advanced assembly plant featuring a variable-model, variable-volume production line for both internal combustion engine vehicles and electric vehicles. The plant will manufacture the N-Series Gas, N-Series Electric, and F-Series Diesel trucks with an annual production capacity of 50,000 units. Operations are slated to commence in 2027.

Isuzu President Noboru Murakami expressed enthusiasm about the location choice, citing South Carolina’s supportive business environment and skilled workforce as key factors. Governor Henry McMaster highlighted the significant impact of this investment on the local community and economy.

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to the project and awarded Greenville County a $7 million grant for site preparation and construction costs.

SC Ports President Barbara Melvin emphasized that Isuzu’s investment underscores the success of Inland Port Greer, enhancing connectivity and supply chain strength in South Carolina. Greenville County Council Chairman Benton Blount welcomed Isuzu’s presence as a boost to the region’s automotive sector.

More information regarding job opportunities at the new facility will be released by Isuzu in the coming months.
