The Greenville State Farmers Market has reopened after a $2.4 million renovation aimed at improving accessibility and creating a better environment for both customers and vendors. South Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers led the ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 24, marking the completion of the upgrades.

“This beautiful expanded market facility offers great opportunities for South Carolina farmers and small business owners to connect with the public – and that’s what our State Farmers Markets are all about,” said Weathers. “I’m proud of our team’s work, and I know visitors will enjoy the results.”

Upgrades to the market include a new wood-beam canopy entrance designed to welcome visitors and highlight seasonal displays. The vendor area now features roll-up glass doors that allow more natural light into the space. Improvements also include a walk-in cooler and updated interior in the section occupied by long-standing grocery vendor G&G Retail, as well as additional office space for regional inspectors from the South Carolina Department of Agriculture (SCDA) and an updated market office.

Located at 1354 Rutherford Rd. in Greenville, the market regularly hosts events such as Small Vendor Saturdays each week and semi-annual Plant and Flower Festivals, which feature various craft, food, and plant vendors.

The SCDA oversees not only the Greenville State Farmers Market but also manages similar markets in Florence County and Lexington County.
