The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of four suspects in connection with a shooting on Creektop Court that resulted in the death of a 17-year-old and injuries to another individual. Two adults involved have been denied bond as the investigation into the homicide continues.
According to FOX Carolina, deputies responded to reports of gunfire and multiple injuries at approximately 3 p.m. on October 13, 2025. The victim, identified as Juan Pablo Cuartas-Paez, was transported to PRISMA Health Greenville Memorial Hospital but succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds. The sheriff’s office confirmed that four individuals—two adults and two juveniles—were apprehended following the incident. Community members have expressed grief and frustration over the increasing frequency of violent crime in the area.
WYFF 4 News reported that suspects Adicson A. Gutierrez Martinez, aged 19, and Yeremy D. Lopez Lopez, aged 21, were charged with murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and conspiracy. Two juvenile suspects face charges of conspiracy and accessory in this case. Court records show both adult suspects were denied bond during hearings on October 15 and 16, with Martinez reportedly stating he “didn’t mean to shoot” the victim.
The Greenville News highlighted an increase in youth-involved homicides in Greenville County for 2025, with over a dozen cases under investigation since January. Law enforcement officials attribute this rise to gang activity, firearm access, and social media conflicts among minors. The sheriff’s office is collaborating with schools, community organizations, and local activists to mitigate gun violence and provide intervention resources for at-risk youth.
