The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of four suspects following a shooting incident that resulted in one fatality and one injury. Two adult suspects have been charged with murder and denied bond, as said in a press bulletin from the Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of an altercation and gunfire around 3 p.m. at the 200 block of Creektop Court. The incident led to two victims being transported to medical facilities, where 17-year-old Juan Pablo Cuartas-Paez was pronounced dead at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial. The coroner has ruled his death a homicide. Investigators have arrested 19-year-old Adicson A. Gutierrez Martinez, 21-year-old Yeremy D. Lopez Lopez, along with two juveniles in connection with the case. Initial reports suggest multiple shots were fired, with neighbors capturing video footage of the event. Detectives are continuing their investigation into the motive and are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.

Authorities have detailed the charges and custody actions against those involved: Martinez and Lopez each face counts of murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and conspiracy; the two juveniles are charged with conspiracy and accessory. Both adult suspects were denied bond during initial hearings on October 14–15. The timeline includes an October 13 call for service, a same-day hospital pronouncement at 3:53 p.m., followed by first-appearance hearings. These details outline the procedural progress from offense to arrest and bond rulings.

South Carolina’s bonding rules provide context for early “no bond” outcomes in such cases. For offenses carrying life sentences—such as murder—bond must be set by a circuit court judge rather than a magistrate; administrative guidance and local court materials emphasize that violent offenses require circuit-level decisions within statutory timelines. These constraints explain why initial hearings often result in detention on murder charges pending circuit review.
