U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina expressed support for President Trump’s recent announcement regarding drug pricing. The president revealed an agreement with a major pharmaceutical company aimed at reducing the cost of medications for Americans by aligning prices more closely with those in other developed countries.

“I am very pleased President Trump is doing something about the high drug prices in America. The current system allows foreign countries to set low prices for the benefit of their citizens, while Americans are expected to cover research and development costs for everyone else. I believe this is an unfair trade practice and President Trump is right to challenge it.

“His announcement this week is a major step toward alleviating that problem. It’s now time for the developing world to pay their fair share for drugs made in America by American companies,” said Graham.

The initiative marks the first agreement of its kind between the U.S. government and a large pharmaceutical firm to address disparities in global drug pricing, aiming to ease financial burdens on American consumers.
