U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina expressed his support for President Trump’s national security team following the administration’s strike on Houthi military infrastructure. Graham stated that the strike was a necessary response to attacks on American naval vessels and international shipping. “The Trump Administration’s decision to strike Houthi military infrastructure that was used to attack American naval vessels and international shipping was the correct response and highly successful,” he said.
Graham also acknowledged that President Trump and his team made an error by including a journalist in a group text, stating it as a ‘lesson learned.’ He remarked, “President Trump and his team have admitted that having a journalist in the group text was wrong, will be reviewed and falls in the category of ‘lessons learned’ so that it doesn’t happen again.”
Despite recent revelations about sensitive information shared in text messages regarding military operations, Graham defended the President’s handling of the situation. He said, “I think President Trump has handled this matter well. Further, I believe that all the participants in the chat were under the impression they were using an appropriate and secure form of communication.”
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth’s reasoning for the attack was praised by Graham. He noted the importance of the response, saying, “Having said that, Secretary Hegseth’s analysis about why and when the attack was needed was spot on. Secretary Hegseth rightly understands that when American naval vessels are attacked, those responsible should pay a heavy price.”
Graham reiterated his ongoing support for the members of the national security team, emphasizing the significance of learning from past mistakes. “I continue to support all members of President Trump’s national security team. Lessons learned,” he concluded.
