U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham has expressed approval following the U.S. House of Representatives’ decision to pass a bill imposing sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC). The legislation, known as the Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act, was passed with a vote of 243-140-1.
Senator Graham is among the cosponsors of the Senate’s version of this legislation, which is led by Senator Tom Cotton from Arkansas. The Senate is anticipated to vote on these sanctions soon.
Graham commented on the House’s decision, stating: “I am very pleased that the House, in a bipartisan fashion, has approved sanctions against the International Criminal Court for its outrageous conduct against the State of Israel. The court is biased and corrupt when it comes to Israel.”
He emphasized that neither the United States nor Israel are members of the ICC and argued that supporting Israel now would protect American servicemembers and diplomats in future situations.
“I urge my Democratic colleagues in the Senate to vote for this important piece of legislation to not only protect our ally Israel but to protect our own nation,” he added. Graham concluded by commending those who have supported this cause: “Well done to all those who have pushed this cause.”
