McCormick County Library issued the following announcement on December 29.

Born and raised in McCormick, Dr. James A. Franklin Sr. grew up in Dorn’s Alley, in one of nine shanty houses located where the public library stands today.

Dr. Franklin will discuss his memoir, Golden Nuggets: Experiences in the Old South, on Saturday, January 15th at 1:30 pm. His presentation will be followed by a book signing and light refreshments.
