Furman runners achieve personal bests at Duke Twilight meet

Sophomores Claire Cook and Nysa Males achieved personal records during the Duke Twilight track and field event, Furman University announced on May 3. The competition took place at Morris Williams Stadium in Durham, North Carolina.

The results highlight strong performances from Furman’s athletes ahead of upcoming championship events. Personal bests can indicate positive progress for both individual runners and the team as a whole.

Cook, who is from Austin, Texas, won her heat in the women’s 800 meters with a time of 2:04.95 and finished eighth overall. Males, originally from Melbourne, Australia, posted a time of 4:22.18 in the women’s 1,500 meters to secure twentieth place. On the men’s side, junior Brayden Seymour finished tenth in the men’s 1,500 meters with a time of 3:41.85.

Furman will next compete at the Southern Conference Championship scheduled for May 11-12 in Cullowhee, North Carolina.

The university also acknowledged Minuteman Press as the official sponsor of Furman Athletics press releases.
