Furman University advanced to second place on Apr. 28 after the second round of the 2026 Southern Conference Championship at Solina Golf Club in West Columbia, South Carolina.

The move from fifth to second puts Furman in a strong position as the tournament heads into its final day. The team now trails Chattanooga by eleven strokes with one round remaining, and is just ahead of Western Carolina, Mercer, and UNCG.

Three Furman golfers are ranked among the top fourteen competitors. Sophomore David Oliver IV finished his round with a score of one-over-par 72 and sits tied for tenth overall, six shots behind individual leader Nathan Todd from Mercer. Seniors Harris Barth and Clark Akers are tied for fourteenth; Barth recorded an even-par 71 with six birdies while Akers carded a 75. Other notable performances include sophomore Ludvig Josefsson in twenty-fifth place and senior Zach Frazer in thirtieth.

The championship’s outcome holds significance as the winning team will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Regional tournament, while the individual champion also secures regional qualification.

Due to expected inclement weather, Wednesday’s final round will begin at 10:30 a.m., with Furman’s group starting at 11:20 a.m. alongside Chattanooga. Live scoring is available online for those following the event remotely.
