A federal grand jury has indicted Gregory L. Tischuk, a 65-year-old resident of Fort Mill, South Carolina, for allegedly making a straw purchase of a firearm. According to the indictment, Tischuk is accused of providing false information in April 2024 while buying a firearm from a major retailer. The allegations state that he misrepresented who the intended recipient of the firearm was on the Firearms Transaction Record Form 4473, which requires purchasers to confirm they are buying the weapon for themselves.

If convicted, Tischuk could face up to 10 years in prison, a fine as high as $250,000, and up to three years of supervised release in addition to any prison sentence. There is also a mandatory special assessment fee of $100. Tischuk has been released on bond pending further proceedings.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney William K. Witherspoon is leading the prosecution.

“All charges in the indictment are merely accusations and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.”
