South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of William Jeymari Mclloyd, 23, from Florence, South Carolina, on a charge related to the sexual exploitation of minors. The arrest was carried out by investigators from the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force within the Attorney General’s Office. The Darlington County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshals Service, both part of the state’s ICAC Task Force, also assisted in the investigation.
The investigation began after a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) led authorities to Mclloyd. Investigators allege that Mclloyd distributed files containing child sexual abuse material.
Mclloyd was taken into custody on January 8, 2026. He faces one count of sexual exploitation of a minor in the second degree (§16-15-405), which is classified as a felony and carries a possible sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office. The office serves as South Carolina’s chief prosecutor and legal counsel, overseeing criminal matters and providing victim support services statewide according to its official website. It works closely with law enforcement agencies on prosecutions and maintains a statewide presence to enhance public safety.
Attorney General Wilson stated: “All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.”
The press release notes that child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is now used instead of “child pornography” because the latter can imply consent by minors. The shift reflects an effort to more accurately describe these crimes.
The Attorney General’s Office collaborates with other state agencies on criminal investigations and prosecutions across South Carolina, contributing to community safety efforts as described on its official website.
