Fairfield County officials recognized National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week on Apr. 16, expressing gratitude to the county’s telecommunicators for their service and commitment to public safety.

The week highlights the important role that public safety telecommunicators play as the first point of contact in emergencies, providing critical support to both residents and emergency personnel. The county thanked its telecommunicators for their professionalism, patience, and dedication, noting their ability to remain calm under pressure while gathering information and dispatching help.

“To our Fairfield County Public Safety Telecommunicators—thank you for your professionalism, patience and unwavering commitment to public safety. Day and night, you answer calls that range from routine to life-threatening, often serving as the first point of contact in moments of fear, confusion and crisis. Your ability to remain calm under pressure, gather critical information and dispatch the help that saves lives does not go unnoticed,” officials said.

Telecommunicators are described as “the unseen heroes behind every emergency response,” supporting agencies such as the Sheriff’s Office, Fire Services, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and Rescue Squad personnel. The county also emphasized its appreciation by stating: “On behalf of Fairfield County, thank you for your service, your sacrifice and your commitment to protecting and serving our citizens every single day. We are grateful for all that you do.”

Fairfield County provides a variety of services aimed at enhancing quality of life through recreation programs like sports classes for all ages according to its official website.
