Senate Democrats have halted Chairman Tim Scott’s attempt to confirm two of President Trump’s nominees for key financial and transportation positions. The nominations of Luke Pettit for Assistant Secretary of the Treasury and Marcus Molinaro for Federal Transit Administrator were blocked despite receiving significant bipartisan support from the Senate Banking Committee, advancing with votes of 19-5 and 20-4, respectively.

Chairman Scott expressed his support for the nominees in a statement, highlighting their qualifications and experience. “I rise in support today for two strong nominees, Luke Pettit and Marcus Molinaro, who were moved out of the Banking Committee with broad bipartisan support,” he said.

Luke Pettit is nominated to serve as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Financial Institutions. According to Scott, “Luke brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of our financial system, honed through his service on the Senate Banking Committee, and in his role as a Senior Policy Advisor for Senator Hagerty.”

Marcus Molinaro has been nominated as Federal Transit Administrator. Scott noted Molinaro’s extensive experience and leadership skills: “His extensive experience, from his tenure in Congress to his outstanding leadership as Dutchess County Executive, underscores his unwavering commitment to improving transit infrastructure.”

Scott urged his colleagues to confirm both nominees: “I urge my colleagues to join me in confirming both of these nominees.”
