Crismon wins 5000m at East Coast Relays

Charleston track and field athletes competed at the East Coast Relays on May 1 and 2, ahead of the upcoming CAA Championships. The team saw seven new additions to its record book during this final meet of the season.

Senior Cayden Crismon won the women’s 5000-meter race with a personal best time of 17:14.90, which places her third in program history for that event. In the women’s 1500 meters, sophomore Abby Mogg finished eighth with a personal best of 4:29.25—now fifth-best in school records—while freshman Gail Vaikutis followed in ninth place with her own personal best of 4:30.09.

Mogg also competed in the women’s 800 meters, finishing twelfth at a time of 2:10.80 and moving to third all-time for Charleston in that event. Katie O’Toole ran a personal best as well, clocking in at 2:13.96.

Trinity Jones achieved a program second-best time of 24.62 seconds in the women’s 200-meter dash and completed the women’s 400 meters with a time of 55.94 seconds.

In field events, Boston Stringer set a new personal record by clearing 3.80 meters in pole vault, tying for fourth place historically within Charleston’s program; Elaine Zhai matched that height and placed seventh overall while tying her own personal best.

Tori-Ann Anderson finished third in high jump by marking at 1.73 meters, while Kinsley Allen cleared a height of 1.63 meters to take eighth place.

Charleston will compete next at the CAA Championships scheduled for May 15-16 at Elon.
