South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson has announced the arrest of Eric Moran Mills, a 52-year-old resident of Conway, South Carolina. Mills faces three charges related to the sexual exploitation of minors. The arrest was carried out by investigators from the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force within the Horry County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation received support from the Attorney General’s Office, which is also part of the state’s ICAC Task Force.

The investigation into Mills began after a CyberTipline report was received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). According to investigators, Mills was found in possession of files containing child sexual abuse material.

Mills was taken into custody on March 6, 2025. He has been charged with three counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor under statute §16-15-410. Each count carries a potential penalty of up to 10 years in prison.

The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office. Attorney General Wilson emphasized that “all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.”

The term “child sexual abuse material” or CSAM is used to describe this type of crime as it accurately reflects its nature. This terminology is preferred over “pornography,” which can misleadingly suggest consent on behalf of the child involved.
