The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has announced the temporary closure and detour of the Colonial Drive bridge over Smith Branch in Richland County. The closure, set to begin on January 26, is necessary for repair work and is expected to last until February 6. However, these dates may be adjusted based on weather conditions.

During this period, a detour route will be in place to guide drivers around the closed section. A map detailing the detour can be accessed through SCDOT’s official website. It is important to note that while Colonial Drive will remain accessible to local traffic, access at the bridge site will be restricted.

SCDOT urges drivers to reduce speed and remain attentive to signage and construction crews when navigating the area during the closure.
