College of Charleston softball to face Towson in final series of season

The College of Charleston softball team will travel to Towson for its final series of the 2026 season, with games scheduled from April 30 through May 2.

This matchup marks the end of regular play for both teams. The Cougars currently hold a record of 25-26 overall and are 13-8 in league play. Their most recent victory came against UNCW, where Austy Miller delivered a walk-off single, securing a 5-4 win. Miller is on a six-game hitting streak with nine hits during that span.

Charleston has performed well at home this year, achieving a record of 20-12. Sunday’s win was their ninth walk-off victory this season. Pitcher Mackenzie Mathis contributed three strikeouts in the latest game and improved her season record to 13-7. Mathis reached her milestone with her 100th strikeout during the series opener against UNCW and now has a total of 107 strikeouts for the year.

In Colonial Athletic Association play, Halle Cannon leads Charleston with a .357 batting average, collecting 38 hits and scoring 19 runs so far this season. Cannon has also hit two home runs in conference games against Elon and Hampton.

Towson enters the series with an overall record of 23-25 and is currently at 6-15 in CAA play. The Tigers have been strong at home (14-10) but recently suffered conference losses to Monmouth and Stony Brook. Historically, Charleston holds an advantage over Towson with a record of 21 wins to Towson’s 14, including sweeping them last April at Patriots Point.
