Coastal Carolina lost to Lindenwood 11-9 in the opening round of the Atlantic Sun Conference Women’s Lacrosse Championship at Rock Stadium, according to an April 28 announcement. The defeat ended Coastal Carolina’s season with a record of 10-8, while Lindenwood improved to 8-10 and moved on to the tournament semifinals.

The match saw Gabrielle Beaudet lead the Chanticleers with five goals. Alyson Mascolo contributed two goals, Nikki Seven had one goal and two assists, and Charlotte Erb also scored for Coastal Carolina. “Coastal struck first on Beaudet’s goal less than two minutes into the contest and twice held one-goal leads in the opening quarter before Lindenwood answered with the final goal of the period for a 3-2 edge,” according to the release.

Lindenwood increased its lead during the second quarter but Mascolo scored late in the half, narrowing Coastal’s deficit to 5-3 at halftime. In the third quarter, Lindenwood built a four-goal advantage before Coastal responded with three consecutive goals that tied it at nine early in the fourth quarter.

However, Lindenwood regained control by scoring twice in the final two minutes. “Charlotte Sadler made eight saves in goal for the Chanticleers, who converted 17-of-18 clear attempts and committed 11 turnovers. Lindenwood held a 15-7 edge in draw controls,” according to Coastal Carolina.

The outcome marks an end to Coastal Carolina’s postseason hopes this year.
