The Coastal Carolina softball team will travel for a three-game road series against the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns from April 17 to 19.

This matchup is important as both teams look to improve their standings in Sun Belt Conference play. The series offers Coastal Carolina an opportunity to secure its first road win against Louisiana, having previously gone winless in Lafayette.

Louisiana enters the series with a 22-22 overall record and a 5-10 mark in conference games. The Ragin’ Cajuns recently lost by shutout, falling 8-0 to No. 20 LSU on April 14. At home this season, Louisiana has posted a strong record of 12 wins and six losses. Mia Liscano leads the team with a .394 batting average, while Brooke Otto has recorded a team-high of 37 runs batted in. On the pitching staff, Bethaney Nobel holds an earned run average of 3.12, and Sage Hoover leads with 56 strikeouts.

In previous meetings between these teams, Coastal Carolina holds five wins compared to twenty-six losses against Louisiana. However, the Chanticleers won their most recent series at St. John Stadium by a score of two games to one and defeated Louisiana last time out with a decisive 6-1 victory that secured them a spot in the final round of the Sun Belt Conference tournament in 2025. In that game, Clara Hudgens, Libby Pippin, and Georgia Hood each contributed runs batted in.

Despite past challenges on the road—Coastal Carolina has yet to win in twelve attempts at Lafayette—the upcoming series presents another chance for improvement away from home.
