Coastal Carolina softball to end regular season with series against Troy

The Coastal Carolina softball team will finish its regular season with a three-game series against the Troy Trojans, starting Thursday, Apr. 29. The first game is scheduled for 6 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 1 p.m.

This matchup holds significance as it marks the conclusion of the regular season for both teams. For Troy, which has a record of 31-19, one win in this series will secure their place in the Sun Belt Conference tournament.

Troy enters the series ranked eighth in the Sun Belt standings. Makaley Boswell leads her team with a .403 batting average and has driven in 44 runs this season. On the pitching side, Abby leads with a 2.42 earned run average, four saves, and 99 strikeouts while holding a 10-5 record in the circle. The Trojans have also had two players named player of the week this year: Boswell and Kiley Huffman.

Historically, Coastal Carolina has an overall record of nine wins and seventeen losses against Troy. The Chanticleers are looking to break a two-game losing streak versus their opponent and currently hold a home record of five wins and eight losses when facing Troy. In previous matchups over their last ten games together, Coastal Carolina is three-and-seven.

In individual achievements for Coastal Carolina this season, Georgia Hood ranks third in program history for single-season home runs with twenty-one; she is also tied for fourth place with fifty-seven runs batted in during one season. Delaney Keith stands second all-time at Coastal Carolina with forty-nine career doubles; she is fourth all-time in runs scored at one hundred eighty-four and third all-time with fifty-one home runs.

The outcome of this final series may impact postseason opportunities for both teams as they look ahead to potential conference tournament play.
