Coastal Carolina softball lost to the Texas State Bobcats, 5-4, on Friday evening in San Marcos, Texas.

The game was closely contested, with both teams exchanging leads throughout. Coastal Carolina started strong with a two-run first inning, thanks to an RBI double from Kaelin Cash and an RBI single by McKennah Metzger. Texas State answered in the bottom of the first as Aiyana Coleman hit an RBI single to narrow the gap.

In the third inning, a fielding error by Coastal allowed Texas State to tie the score at 2-2. The Chanticleers regained their lead in the fourth when Izzy Ramirez hit a sacrifice fly and Metzger scored on a bases-loaded walk, making it 4-2. However, Sami Hood of Texas State responded with a two-run home run in the bottom half of that inning to even things up again at four runs apiece.

Texas State took its first lead in the fifth inning after Harley Vestal scored on a wild pitch. That run proved decisive as neither team scored again for the remainder of the game. Reagan Troy took her first loss of the season for Coastal Carolina after allowing one run over one inning pitched.

The result leaves Coastal Carolina looking ahead to future games as they continue their season.
