Clemson women’s basketball Head Coach Shawn Poppie announced on Apr. 30 the addition of five new players from the transfer portal: Mackenzie Nelson, Taliyah Henderson, Jenna Lawrence, Edie Clarke, and Yakiya Milton.

The announcement introduces significant changes to the team roster as Clemson prepares for the upcoming season. The new recruits bring experience from a range of collegiate programs and are expected to contribute in various positions across the court.

Mackenzie Nelson joins from Virginia Tech after averaging 8.0 points, 5.7 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game during the previous season. She was named to both the All-ACC Women’s Basketball Academic Team and the KayYow Servant Leader Class of 2026. “Mackie is a true floor general. Her ability to push the pace and be a playmaker for herself and others stands out… She’s a veteran of the ACC, and her skillset mixed with how much of a competitor she is makes her a perfect fit here at Clemson,” Poppie said.

Taliyah Henderson comes from North Carolina where she recorded multiple double-digit scoring performances last season. Poppie said, “Taliyah is a playmaking scorer who adds great size on the perimeter… With her strong work ethic and our program’s focus on player development, the sky is the limit for Taliyah here at Clemson.” Jenna Lawrence arrives from Arkansas with accolades including selection to both academic teams and leadership councils; Poppie described her as adding versatility in front court positions.

Edie Clarke transfers from Saint Mary’s College after averaging notable statistics in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks last year. “Edie adds much-needed length in our front court… I believe she can become an elite defender in our system by protecting the paint with her athleticism and length,” Poppie said about Clarke’s potential impact.

Yakiya Milton brings additional height at forward after playing at Southern Cal., where she showed defensive prowess through rebounding and shot-blocking efforts last season. According to Poppie: “Kai has an unbelievable upside… Immediately, her ability to defend multiple positions, protect the rim and rebound will help our team.”
