Clemson rowing completes Lake Wheeler Invite competition in Raleigh

The Clemson Rowing program finished its participation at the Lake Wheeler Invite in Raleigh on April 25, competing against 19 other programs. Over two days, the Tigers raced in a total of 12 events, with each of their four boats taking part in three rounds.

The event featured a strong field that included eight Atlantic Coast Conference teams and six teams ranked by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association. The Tigers’ First Varsity Eight (1V8) led the way for Clemson, finishing fifth overall in each round. In detail, the 1V8 placed third in its opening heat with a time of 6:27.750, second in Round 2 at 6:28.140, and third again in Round 3 with a time of 6:21.050.

Clemson’s Second Varsity Eight (2V8) showed improvement as racing progressed. The crew finished ninth overall in Round 1 with a time of 6:48.540 before moving up to eighth place for both Rounds 2 and 3, clocking times of 6:44.250 and 6:45.080 respectively.

In the fours events, Clemson’s First Varsity Four (1V4) started with a tenth-place finish (7:33.170), improved to eighth place (7:30.340) during Round 2, then returned to tenth place (7:28.890) for Round 3. The Second Varsity Four (2V4) posted finishes of thirteenth (7:34.330), eighteenth (7:46.850), and fourteenth place (7:35.420) across their respective rounds.

Looking ahead, Clemson will focus on preparing for the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships scheduled to take place at Lake Wheeler on May 15-16.
