Clemson athletes achieve top finishes on day two of Penn Relays

Clemson University athletes posted strong results on April 25 during the second day of the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, highlighted by event wins, personal bests, and several relay team qualifications for finals.

The competition saw Sharvis Simmonds and Khailan Vitalis advance from the men’s 110-meter hurdles preliminaries with times of 13.73 seconds and 13.85 seconds, respectively. Briana Campbell set a personal record in the women’s 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.25 seconds to secure third place and qualify for the next round.

Relay teams also delivered notable performances. The men’s 4×100-meter team—Ayomide Oyetunji, Ian Johnson, Kevin Collins, and Jalen Johnson—placed second in their heat with a time of 39.48 seconds to reach the final. The women’s squad featuring Aleksandra Stoilova, Aniyah Kitt, McKenzie Calloway, and Campbell matched that result with a finish of 43.76 seconds.

Clemson’s men won the 4×200-meter relay as I. Johnson, J. Johnson, Grant Holliday, and Collins finished first at 1:21.52 minutes while their female counterparts took fourth place in their event at 1:32.94 minutes.

In field events, Danielle Noble tied her own mark for sixth on Clemson’s all-time list by winning the women’s high jump at a height of 1.75 meters (5 feet –8¾ inches). Matthew Auble recorded a personal best in men’s discus throw with a distance of 51.96 meters (170 feet–6 inches), earning fourth place overall and moving to ninth on Clemson’s all-time list.

The Tigers are scheduled to continue competing tomorrow as part of day three at the Penn Relays.
