The Citadel announced on May 6 the passing of cadet-athlete Evan Andrew Greenleigh, who died on April 25.
Greenleigh, age 19, was a member of the Corps of Cadets Class of 2029 from Bethesda, Maryland. He studied mechanical engineering and participated in Echo Company as well as The Citadel tennis program.
Tennis head coach Chuck Kriese said, “Evan’s energy and focus level from day one was so high. As a cadet-athlete, he balanced the demands of the Corps of Cadets, academics and Division I athletics with humility and a willingness to serve others. He always had a bright, positive attitude and brought great energy to everything he did. He had a service attitude, truly cared for others and loved The Citadel community. His teammates and coaches will remember him not only for his commitment to tennis, but for the joy, kindness and positive energy he brought to the people around him.”
According to The Citadel’s announcement, Greenleigh embodied values such as Honor, Duty and Respect through his actions as a student and teammate. Coaches recalled how he supported those around him during his time at The Citadel.
