A man from Cheraw, South Carolina, has been arrested on multiple charges related to the sexual exploitation of a minor. The South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced that James Michael Presnell, II, 40, was taken into custody by Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators with the Lexington Police Department. The Attorney General’s Office, which is also part of the state’s ICAC Task Force, assisted in the investigation.
According to investigators, Presnell solicited and traveled to meet someone he believed was a minor and sent sexually explicit images to this individual.
Presnell was arrested on October 27, 2025. He faces two counts of criminal solicitation of a minor under state law (§16-15-342), each carrying a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison. He is also charged with one count of attempted criminal sexual conduct with a minor (§16-3-655(B)(1)), and two counts of dissemination of obscene material to a person under eighteen (§16-15-345), both felonies that can result in up to 10 years imprisonment for each count.
The Attorney General’s Office will prosecute the case.
Attorney General Wilson stated: “All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.”
