South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson has announced the arrest of Timothy Jared Vise, a 45-year-old resident of Cowpens, South Carolina. The arrest is in connection with six charges related to the sexual exploitation of minors. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, part of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, conducted the arrest with assistance from investigators from the Attorney General’s Office, also members of the state’s ICAC Task Force.

According to investigators, Vise was found in possession of files containing child sexual abuse material. He was taken into custody on March 13, 2025. Vise faces six counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor under section §16-15-410. Each count is a felony offense that carries a potential sentence of up to 10 years imprisonment.

The Attorney General’s Office will prosecute this case. Attorney General Wilson emphasized that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The term “child sexual abuse material” (CSAM) is used to accurately describe the content involved in these crimes. It replaces “child pornography,” which may imply consent by minors and does not reflect the abusive nature of such material.
