Charleston track and field will compete at the East Coast Relays on May 1 and 2 in Jacksonville, Florida, according to an April 30 announcement. The event marks the final meet of the regular season for the team.

The competition is significant as it provides athletes with a last opportunity to achieve qualifying marks ahead of postseason events. Charleston has entered 23 athletes across 11 events scheduled over Friday and Saturday.

Halli Silberman, Gabby David, and Tatum Frith are set to begin Charleston’s participation in the long jump on Friday afternoon. In their previous meet, David achieved a season-best jump of 5.61 meters while Frith reached a mark of 5.46 meters. Four Cougars will compete in the pole vault later that day; freshmen Elaine Zhai and Allie Sanfelippo both tied for first place at their last event by clearing heights of 3.75 meters.

Freshman Tori-Ann Anderson is entered in Saturday’s high jump after recently setting a personal best with a clearance of 1.76 meters, which ranks second all-time in program history and places her twenty-third in the East Region standings. The top forty-eight athletes from this region will qualify for NCAA Regionals later this month. Freshman Viktorija Calusic and junior Kinsley Allen are also competing in high jump.

On the track side, four freshmen will run the 200-meter dash on Friday evening; Trinity Jones previously recorded a time of 24.95 seconds this season—fourth best in school history—and holds the program record for the 400-meter dash at 55.75 seconds, an event she is also entered into on Saturday. Six runners are listed for Saturday’s 800-meter race including sophomore Abby Mogg who currently ranks fourth all-time at Charleston; Mogg is also slated to run Friday’s1500-meter race.

Live results throughout both days can be accessed online along with entry lists provided by organizers.

The outcome of these performances may influence qualifications for upcoming NCAA regional competitions.
