Charleston police arrest suspect in Huntington Bank robbery on King Street

The Charleston Police Department announced on April 30 the arrest of a suspect connected to the robbery at Huntington Bank, located at 677 King Street, which took place on April 21.

According to police, officers responded shortly before 4 p.m. after employees reported that a man entered the bank and handed a note to a teller demanding money. The suspect was described as wearing a medical mask and gauze over one eye before fleeing the scene on a bicycle.

After an investigation, detectives charged Jonathan Clayton, age 46 and from Charleston, with entering a bank with intent to steal. Clayton was arrested on April 29 in North Charleston with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Task Force and the North Charleston Police Department.
