The College of Charleston men’s golf team will compete in the 2026 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Men’s Golf Championship from April 26 to April 28 at Dataw Island Golf Club in St. Helena Island, South Carolina.

This event is significant as the Cougars aim to secure their eighth CAA title. Last year, Charleston finished fourth in the championship, with Tim Bertenbreiter and Kieron van Wyk both earning spots on the All-Tournament team after strong individual performances. Nevill Ruiter also placed among the top finishers during his final appearance at the event.

Charleston enters this year’s tournament as the highest-ranked team in the field, holding No. 47 in the NCAA Clippd rankings. The competition includes teams such as Monmouth, Towson, UNCW, North Carolina A&T, Campbell, Elon, William & Mary, Drexel, and Hofstra.

Under head coach Mitch Krywulycz, Charleston has achieved a program record with three regular season tournament wins this year: Wexford Intercollegiate, Hootie at Bulls Bay—where they set multiple program records—and Giles Spratley Collegiate. Notably, Ruiter was named CAA Golfer of the Week after winning an individual title earlier this month.

The championship begins Sunday morning with tee times starting at 8:30 a.m., and Charleston will open play alongside UNCW and Elon at 11:30 a.m. The Cougar lineup features Miles Eubanks, Nevill Ruiter, Loran Appel, Jules Lauer and Johan Bredenkamp.

Looking ahead to next week’s competition schedule and recent successes on course highlight high expectations for Charleston as they pursue another conference title.
