Jaidan Latrell Alexander, a 26-year-old resident of Ladson, South Carolina, has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison following his guilty plea to charges related to firearms and drug trafficking.
Court proceedings revealed that Alexander acquired multiple firearms through a straw purchasing scheme with the help of a family member. He was not legally allowed to possess firearms due to prior criminal convictions. Investigators also presented social media evidence showing Alexander’s involvement in narcotics distribution and noted that he had been arrested several times while armed.
Records indicate that on April 13, 2023, Alexander was involved in an exchange of gunfire outside his apartment during an attempted robbery. A subsequent search of his apartment led to the discovery of firearms, illegal drugs, and equipment for packaging and distributing narcotics.
On August 30, 2024, agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives arrested Alexander at his home after executing a search warrant. During the search, authorities found additional firearms, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, tools used for drug distribution such as scales and vacuum sealers, packaging materials, and more than two-and-a-half pounds of marijuana.
United States District Judge Bruce H. Hendricks imposed a sentence of 10 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release. There is no parole available in the federal system.
The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Chris Lietzow.
