Staff members from A.C. Corcoran Elementary School and Ladson Elementary School hosted a Parent University on May 2, according to Charleston County School District. Superintendent Anita Huggins and Principal Chris Holbrook welcomed parents and the school community at the event.

The gathering aimed to bring together both schools, business partners, parents, and community members to support students by strengthening the home-to-school connection. Organizers said they wanted to equip families with tools that would help students succeed.

Teachers and instructional coaches led informational sessions about testing expectations and curriculum highlights. These sessions offered families insights and strategies for supporting learning at home.

“It was a fantastic event, and everyone in attendance had a great experience,” said Holbrook.

Families were provided with a light breakfast and a catered lunch as part of the collaborative event organized by parent and community advocates from both schools. The district encourages those seeking more information to contact its Office of Communications.
