Carolina Renewable Products (CRP), a company focused on clean energy, has announced plans to establish operations in Orangeburg County, South Carolina. The project involves an investment of $280 million and is expected to create 155 new jobs.
The company specializes in converting sustainable wood biomass into renewable diesel, biochar, and wood vinegar. CRP’s approach uses modular technology designed to provide low-carbon fuel solutions while supporting the state’s agriculture and forestry sectors.
CRP recently acquired its first site at 546 Prosperity Drive in Orangeburg. This location will serve as both the headquarters and training hub for the company and will house a next-generation facility dedicated to producing renewable diesel from biomass. To support the project, the Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits and awarded a $750,000 Closing Fund grant to Orangeburg County for site preparation and building construction.
