AVANTech, LLC announced plans to expand its operations in Richland County, South Carolina. The company, which specializes in design, engineering and Nuclear Quality Assurance-1 (NQA-1) fabrication for the nuclear, energy, environmental and industrial markets, will invest $3.7 million and create 65 new jobs as part of this project.
Founded in 1999, AVANTech will add 45,000 square feet to its existing facility at 2050 American Italian Way in Columbia. Additionally, the company will lease a new 12,000-square-foot building to support increased fabrication, testing and assembly work. The expansion is expected to be operational by February 2026. The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to the expansion.

Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey III stated: “AVANTech’s expansion announcement reinforces South Carolina’s commitment to supporting our existing companies. Richland County Council Chairwoman Jesica Mackey added: “This latest expansion of AVANTech not only strengthens its presence and capacity in our community, it reinforces our region’s robust manufacturing base. The company’s promise to add more management, professional and skilled positions at the facility gives our residents more options to grow their careers at home.”
Governor Henry McMaster leads South Carolina’s executive branch from his office at the State House on Gervais Street in Columbia. He has held office since January 2017 with re-elections following in 2018 and 2022 (source). His role includes overseeing state government functions such as economic development—a priority reflected by projects like AVANTech’s expansion—and ensuring public safety under the state constitution.
