On Wednesday, South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson joined Republican attorneys general and law enforcement leaders for a press conference at the southern border in Yuma, Arizona. The event provided updates on President Trump’s immigration-border policy and the expanded 287(g) program. The group discussed the administration’s early achievements in reducing illegal border encounters, disrupting drug trafficking, particularly fentanyl, and expanding immigration enforcement initiatives known as “Operation Tidal Wave.”

Attorney General Wilson stated, “For the last four years, we’ve been sinking under the weight of Biden’s weak border policies.” He praised President Trump for providing tools to combat these issues: “Now, we’re not just bailing water, we’re taking control of the ship. From stopping deadly drugs at the border to backing local law enforcement with programs like 287(g), this administration is proving it puts the safety of our citizens above politics, and we’re proud to work with them.”

Wilson highlighted significant progress made within three months under Trump’s renewed focus on border security and cooperation between state and federal agencies.
