Attorney General Alan Wilson has issued a warning regarding plans for a “mass resistance” against ICE operations in South Carolina. An organization is reportedly planning to meet on February 8 to form a “Community ICE Raid Response Network.” Wilson emphasized that while peaceful assembly and expression are constitutional rights, obstructing law enforcement will lead to serious consequences.

South Carolina, like the rest of the country, is dealing with significant illegal immigration issues. The Trump administration, which took office in 2025, is focused on deterring and removing individuals who entered the U.S. illegally and pose public safety risks. The Attorney General’s Office supports President Donald Trump’s efforts to enforce federal immigration laws without obstruction.

Recent incidents highlight the risks of unlawful resistance. In Greenville last week, an anti-deportation protest turned dangerous when a demonstrator drove into a crowd, injuring two people. Such actions are deemed reckless and intolerable by the Attorney General’s Office.

Wilson stated that any illegal activities aimed at disrupting law enforcement or lawful immigration enforcement will be prosecuted fully. He urged all parties to respect legal processes and work within legal boundaries. The Attorney General’s Office remains committed to collaborating with local and state law enforcement agencies to maintain community safety.

Wilson’s letter to the Columbia Chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America can be accessed for further details.
