South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson has sent a letter to Silfab Solar in York County following a chemical spill at the facility on March 3. The incident involved potassium hydroxide, a chemical known for its potential to cause serious health effects.
Attorney General Wilson said, “Nearby residents and particularly parents of children at the Flint Hill Elementary School next door are expressing serious and legitimate concerns regarding their safety and their children’s safety. Our state Constitution notes that the health, welfare, and safety of lives and property are matters of public concern.”
The letter addressed complaints from both local residents and parents of students at Flint Hill Elementary School about safety concerns after the spill.
