Anderson University issued the following announcement on April 7.

Several Voice Students from the South Carolina School of the Arts at Anderson University are advancing to the first round of National NATS Student Auditions.

Voice Students from the South Carolina School of the Arts at Anderson University participated in the National Association of Teachers of Singing Mid-Atlantic Regional Student Auditions in Musical Theater and Classical events.

This competition was held virtually and comprised student winners and qualifiers from South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C. Many of the students not only earned honors at the Regional event but also qualified to continue on to compete in the first round of the National Student Auditions, which is a YouTube round. From the YouTube round, 14 students from around the U.S. will be selected to move on to the in-person competition in Chicago this summer. 

Congratulations to the following students: 

Joey Carlisle – First Place, Second Year College Tenor/Baritone/Bass, Classical. Carlisle advances to the first round of National NATS Student Auditions. He is a student of Seth Killen.

Kenna Boyle – Second Place, in split category: Third Year College Treble and Musical Theater. Boyle qualified for the first round of National NATS Student Auditions. She is a student of Seth Killen.

Mabry Boyle – First Place in split category: Third Year College Treble, Classical. Boyle then earned Second Place in the sing off and qualified for the first round of National NATS Student Auditions. She is a student of Deirdre Welborn.

Benjamin Reardon – Third place, Third Year College Tenor/Baritone/Bass. Reardon also qualified for the first round of National NATS Student Auditions. He is a student of Seth Killen.

Lydia Clark – Tied for First Place in the split category: Fourth/Fifth Year Treble Musical Theater. Lydia also won 1st place in the Sing-off round for the category, qualified for the first round of National NATS Student Auditions. She is a student of Wendy Fowler.

Angelina Chisholm – Second place in split category: Fourth/Fifth Year College Treble, Musical Theater. She is a student of Wendy Fowler.

Hanna Ward – Third Place in Hall Johnson Spiritual Category, College. Ward qualified for the first round of National NATS Student Auditions. She is a student of Deirdre Welborn.
