South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of Alexander Cabal, 42, of Anderson, South Carolina. Cabal faces one charge related to the sexual exploitation of a minor after an investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.

According to investigators, Cabal is accused of producing child sexual abuse material. He was arrested on December 25, 2025, and charged with one count of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor (§16-15-395), which is a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison. The Attorney General’s Office will prosecute the case.

Attorney General Wilson stated: “All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.”

The press release clarifies that child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is now used as a more accurate term for these crimes. The term “pornography” can suggest consent, which is not applicable in these cases. Globally, “child pornography” is being replaced by CSAM for this reason.

The South Carolina Attorney General serves as the state’s chief prosecutor and legal counsel, overseeing criminal prosecutions and regulations statewide according to its official website. The office also collaborates with law enforcement agencies on investigations such as this case and provides victim support services throughout South Carolina.
