COLUMBIA, S.C. – Governor Henry McMaster has appointed Patricia C. Grant as the new Colleton County Clerk of Court following the resignation of former Clerk of Court Rebecca Hill. Grant, a resident of Walterboro, S.C., previously served as the Colleton County Clerk of Court for 20 years before retiring in 2020. The appointment, as per Executive Order 2024-07, is effective immediately, and Grant will hold the position until the next general election or until a successor qualifies as provided by law.

Grant's appointment comes in accordance with state law, which dictates that in the case of a vacancy in the office of a county clerk of court, the governor is empowered to appoint a suitable individual who is an elector of the county to fulfill the role.

Grant's extensive experience in the judicial system, coupled with her past service as the county clerk of court, positions her well to take on the responsibilities of this critical role. Governor McMaster's swift action in appointing Grant ensures the continuity and efficiency of operations within the Colleton County Clerk of Court's office.
