Washington – U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) expressed his sorrow today following the news of former U.S. Senator Joe Lieberman's passing. Graham, a longtime friend of Lieberman, shared heartfelt words in remembrance of the late senator from Connecticut.

"Just heard of my dear friend Joe Lieberman’s passing," Graham expressed, as he reflected on the news while leaving Israel. He added, "As I am just now leaving Israel, so many emotions. This is devastatingly sad."

Graham highlighted the privilege he felt in having had the opportunity to travel the world with Lieberman in support of America's interests, saying, "I feel fortunate to have been in his presence, traveling the world in support of America’s interests as we saw it."

Addressing Lieberman's family, Graham conveyed his condolences, saying, "To Hadassah, I know your heart is broken, but please understand your legion of friends love you dearly. To the Lieberman family, we will be with you through this journey."

Expressing his intention to honor Lieberman's memory further, Graham mentioned, "I look forward to sharing more thoughts about this wonderful man and the incredible life he lived."

In a bittersweet note, Graham remarked, "The good news, he is in the hands of the loving God. The bad news, John McCain is giving him an earful about how screwed up things are." Concluding his tribute, Graham said, "Rest in peace, my dear friend. From the Last Amigo."
